Ask Will Anything: A New Era of Transparency for District 8

By Will Richardson

For far too long, government has felt distant—like a closed door, a maze of red tape, or a wall of silence when real answers are needed most. Too often, the people who work hardest to keep our neighborhoods strong are left in the dark, feeling unheard and unsure if anyone in office is truly listening. I believe it’s time to change that.

That’s why I’m launching “Ask Will Anything”—a space built on honesty, openness, and respect for every voice in Shelby County Commission District 8. This isn’t just a campaign promise; it’s a commitment to a new way of doing business in local government. Here, no question is off limits. Here, you get straight answers, even when the truth is tough or the solution isn’t easy.

Why Ask Will Anything?

Transparency isn’t just about sharing good news or celebrating victories. Sometimes, it means facing hard truths—acknowledging when things aren’t working, admitting when we have to make difficult choices, and explaining why change can be slow or painful. Real leadership means standing up and saying, “We had to do something hard to make something right,” and inviting the community to be part of that process every step of the way.

I know that trust is earned, not given. That’s why I want to hear from you—not just during this campaign, but every day I have the honor of serving as your commissioner. Your questions, concerns, and ideas are what will shape our district’s future. Whether you’re worried about public safety, education, jobs, housing, or any challenge facing your family, your voice matters here.

What Can You Ask?

Anything.
No topic is too big or too small. Want to know how the county budget works? Curious about plans for safer neighborhoods or better schools? Have concerns about new developments, affordable housing, or how to support local businesses? Maybe you just want to know more about my background, my priorities, or why I made a tough decision. This is your chance to ask, and I will answer—honestly, directly, and with the respect you deserve.

A Community Conversation—Not Just During the Campaign

This blog is open now and will stay open after Election Day. I want this to be a living conversation, a place where you can always reach out and expect a real response. My goal is to make government accessible, understandable, and accountable. When you submit a question, you’re not just seeking information—you’re helping shape the direction of District 8. You’re showing that you care, that you’re invested, and that you expect better from your leaders.

Your Moment in the Spotlight

Every question is important, and every voice deserves to be heard. By sharing your questions here, you’re not only helping yourself—you’re helping your neighbors, your community, and your county. You’re shining a light on the issues that matter most, and you’re holding me accountable to deliver real answers and real results.

Let’s Build Trust—Together

I can’t promise that every answer will be easy, or that every problem will have a quick fix. But I can promise you this: I will always be honest. I will always listen. And I will always fight for the future we deserve in District 8.

So, what’s on your mind? What do you want to know? What keeps you up at night, and what gives you hope for our community?
Ask Will Anything. Your question could be the spark that leads to real change.
